From time to time, I find myself gently guiding a client (or myself!) back into connection — back into presence, back into the body, and back into the truth of who they really are.
There are four key types of disconnection I see most often:
- Physical Disconnection – when parts of the body aren’t communicating or functioning in harmony.
- Spirit Out of the Body – when your energy has literally left the building.
- Spirit/Physical Disconnection – when your spirit and body aren’t syncing or “dancing” together.
- Spirit Break – when it feels like your soul has been cracked wide open (hello, heartbreak, grief or deep loss).
Disconnection isn’t just a vibe — it can show up as fatigue, lowered immunity, emotional numbness, chronic stress, anxiety, or even physical pain or illness in the area of your body that’s “offline.” It often creeps in after big emotional events like a breakup, trauma, burnout, or simply from the modern-day hustle that leaves no room for pause, presence or reflection.
The Reconnection Ritual (That Actually Works)
If you’re feeling disconnected, here’s a gentle nudge:
👉 Start by smiling. Yes, really. It instantly lifts your vibration and activates gratitude.
👉 Get quiet. Lie down. Breathe. No phone, no distractions. Just be.
Here’s what I do when I need to come back home to myself:
- Sit in a sauna then in a float tank
- Close my eyes and box breathe (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4)
- Watch the sunrise or sunset without my phone
- Walk on the beach — even when I don’t feel like it (not very often)
- Talk to myself in the mirror (yes, out loud! yes I felt like a weirdo, and yes at times I still feel like a weirdo, I’ve made it fun)
- Cry — because tears are a release and release = healing
- Smile again (it’s the easiest, quickest way to shift your state)
You don’t need to do more. You need to be more — more present, more aware, more connected.
Ask Yourself This…
🌀 When was the last time you truly connected with yourself?
🌀 What’s one small thing you can do right now to feel into your body?
Hint: Start with a smile. 😊 It’s a powerful first step.
